A huge honour for the MURC! The Multi-Use Recreation Complex has been chosen as one of the 2025 Queen’s Park Picks by the Ontario Association of Architects. The theme this year was ‘Reshaping Communities’ and 55 submissions were received from 36 MPPs. 

Due to the strike at Canada Post, mail service to and from the Town of Georgina has been impacted. As a result of the labour disruption, mail services for documents, payments and notices to and from the Town will be delayed.

During the strike, residents can access Town services and make payments electronically or in person at the Civic Centre. Do not send cheque payments by mail at this time.

The Council of the Town of Georgina invites people to volunteer in their community as a member of the following advisory committee. All appointments are for the remainder of the 2022-2026 Term of Council. Current Town board and committee members are encouraged to apply. 

Georgina Economic Development Advisory Committee (GEDC)

The purpose of the Georgina Economic Development Advisory Committee is to support, develop and recommend strategies and implementation plans to support and enhance the Town’s Economic Development and Tourism programs. 

The Town’s waste collection contract is up for renewal in 2028. The Northern 6 (N6) municipalities of York Region are preparing to issue a joint Request for Proposal (RFP) for the collection of residential garbage, organics, yard waste and other solid waste. 

The Town will begin seasonal removal of the multi-use pathway along Lake Drive on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025. Work will move west to east from Civic Centre Road to South Drive. During this time, residents can expect temporary lane closures, brief delays, and should follow signage and directions from work crew personnel.

The Town of Georgina is paying tribute to fallen volunteer firefighter Randy Bush by naming a street in his honour. Randy Bush Crescent will be located off the Queensway, north of Church Street within the Ballymore subdivision. 

October is a beautiful time of year in Georgina. The air is crisp and there are lots of fun activities for the whole family to celebrate Halloween and the harvest season.
