What a snow show Georgina!
FINAL UPDATE – 7:15 p.m. Happy to report that we will be resuming operations tomorrow as per our planned Family Day schedule of operating hours and programming at facilities. This includes the ROC.

The Town is declaring a Significant Weather Event and a Winter Maintenance Event, effective today, Feb. 15, 2025, at 4 p.m. Parked vehicles must be removed from all Town roads until further notice.
As per the Ontario Municipal Act, a municipality may declare a significant weather event when a weather hazard, either forecast or occurring, has the potential to pose a significant danger to users of the roadways in which they have authority. This declaration suspends the standard timelines required for municipalities to meet their winter maintenance objectives.
The Town’s winter maintenance event will be lifted, effective 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, 2025. The significant weather event is also ended.
Residents should be advised that crews will continue to work on cleaning up sidewalks throughout Town this evening and tomorrow morning.
Thank you to all residents for their cooperation and patience.

The original portion of the building is a designated heritage building under the Ontario Heritage Act and was constructed in 1881. This should be considered if the intention is to renovate.

The following is a statement from Mayor Margaret Quirk on the U.S. tariff threat and Buy Canadian – Shop Local:
“In the wake of the United States plan to implement tariffs on Canadian goods, the Town of Georgina continues to support local businesses and is encouraging the community to do the same by choosing to Buy Canadian-Shop Local whenever possible. A motion will be introduced at the Council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 5 that directs staff to review the merits of a Buy Canadian procurement policy.
Winter in Georgina is a great time to enjoy all the Town has to offer. From SnoFest to Family Day fun, there is something for every member of the family.
