In an effort to enhance public spaces and support long-term land management, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (the Conservation Authority) is pleased to announce that they have transferred Franklin Beach, Holmes Point and Willow Beach Conservation Areas and Keswick North Watercourse, to the Town of Georgina.

As the finishing touches are being completed, the Town of Georgina is pleased to announce the wait is over – the new Multi-Use Recreation Complex (MURC) will officially open on March 2, 2024. One of the largest projects in the Town’s history, the MURC is a state-of-the-art facility offering programs and activities for people of all ages and abilities.

The Town’s winter maintenance event will be lifted, effective 5 p.m., Jan. 13.

The Town has declared a winter maintenance event effective 3 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.

Parked vehicles must be removed from all Town roads to allow crews to clear the snow until further notice. 

Please drive according to weather conditions and remember to leave room around snowplows. Be sure to check the Town's online winter operations tracker. It allows you to see where the snowplows and sidewalk plows are during snow clearing.

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Advisory for Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024. Forecast snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm, with snow changing to rain this evening.  Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 mm.  Given that local soil conditions are partially frozen, the snowmelt runoff combined with the rainfall may result in elevated water levels in rivers and streams within our jurisdiction. 

Happy New Year! What better way to kick off 2024 than with some fun events and activities in the Town of Georgina. 

A new year will soon be here and with it, a new look for the 2024 Waste and Recycling Calendar. Residents will see a new format for the calendar, an easy-to-use single-page double-sided calendar with the waste schedule and helpful waste and recycling tips. The 2024 calendar has been mailed and residents can expect to receive it in their mailboxes the week of Dec. 11, 2023.

Georgina Council has approved the 2024 budget, which includes a 3.51 per cent increase for operating expenditures and a 2 per cent increase for an infrastructure levy for a total tax levy increase of 5.51 per cent. The annual infrastructure levy for capital reserves is necessary to ensure the Town can continue to invest in the capital infrastructure that residents rely upon. The increase translates into an estimated property tax increase of $140 for an average home with an assessed value of $448,000.

Georgina, ON – Drivers will get a chance to turn something naughty into something nice this holiday season with the Town of Georgina’s Toys for Tickets program. It allows people who get a parking ticket between Dec.1 to Dec. 14, for the offence of parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., the option of paying the ticket with a new, unwrapped toy equal to or greater than the amount of the fine. All toys received will be distributed through a local charity.

The Town is making space on the mantle after capturing four MarCom awards. The Communications Division won a platinum award for Georgina’s Game Plan – a creative marketing campaign for the Town’s Strategic Plan in the category of Strategic Communication, Integrated Marketing. The Economic Development and Tourism Division received a gold award for its marketing campaign promoting the annual Field to Table event.
