Church was Hauled Across the Ice
St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Sutton was built in 1864 and originally located at the Innisfil 6th Line and Highway 11, where it was known for a time as the 6th Line Presbyterian Church.
In the early 1900's a new church was built and the 6th Line church closed to regular services.
In 1925, a group of Presbyterians under the leadership of retired Minister J.D. Campbell, acquired the property on Dalton Road to build a church and later purchased the 6th Line Presbyterian Church building.
The congregation then dismantled the church.
The doors of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church opened in late 1927, and the first marriage ceremony to occur there was that of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Robertson, owner of the Toronto Evening Telegram.
Me. Robertson donated a large wooden chair located behind the altar. On its underside is an inscription reading. "Made in 1901. Solid olive wood from Mount of Olives, near the Garden of Gethsemane, Palestine. Brought to Canada from Jerusalem by J. Ross Robertson.
