Deputy Fire Chief / CEMC

Steve Richardson started his career with the Town of Georgina in 2006 and holds the positions of Deputy Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator.

Reporting to the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief Richardson oversees all operations of the Suppression Staff, Fire Prevention and Training Divisions, plus works as a commanding officer at emergency situations.

Steve began his career in the fire service starting with the Township of Vespra in 1981 as a volunteer firefighter. He joined the Town of Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service as a full time firefighter in 1984, working his way up to rank of Captain/Fire Prevention Officer. In 2000, Steve moved to Fort Frances where he held the position of Fire Chief, CEMC and Fire Coordinator for the District of Rainy River.

He has trained in many areas of the Fire Service including Suppression, Auto Extrication, Water and Ice Rescue, Fire Prevention, Adult Education, Emergency First Responder and Emergency Management. Steve is a qualified instructor in many of these fields.

While working in Northwestern Ontario, Steve was a member of the International Joint Commission, International Border Emergency Planning Committee, and sat as a Director, Chair or member of numerous local and Northwestern Ontario Coalitions, Boards and Committees.

He has taken numerous courses through the Ontario Fire Marshals Office, Emergency Management Ontario, Canadian Emergency Preparedness College, Dalhousie University, Wilfrid Laurier University and Georgian College.
