Curbside Collection Etiquette

There are a number of things that can be done to aid in curbside collection.
  • All collectable materials shall be at the curb no earlier than 8:00 p.m. the evening before your collection day and no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Collection times may vary due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • The first bag or can does not require a garbage tag. Additional bags or containers set out for pick up by the waste collector must have a tag prominently displayed.
  • If garbage is set out in rigid container, please have a tag secured to the top bag inside container and not attached to the can in any way.
  • Disposable bags, or other waste containers shall not exceed the size of: 76 cm x 122 cm (30" x 48") for bags. Refuse cans/containers are to be reusable metal or plastic, no larger than 50 cm (20") diameter and 90 cm (36") in height and have handles and a lid.
  • Boxes are to be closed or folded, and no larger than 76 cm x 122 cm x 30.5 cm (30" x 48" x12").
  • If you have broken glass to dispose of, please box it and tape it and mark ?broken glass? with a tag attached.
  • The total weight of each full can, container or bag cannot exceed 22 kgs (50lbs).
  • Do not include hazardous waste or grass clippings with your regular pickup as both are banned from landfill.
Yard Waste
  • Please place yard waste in Kraft paper bags only or reusable rigid containers. PLASTIC BAGS will not be accepted. Tree and shrub clippings are to be bundled and have a maximum diameter of 60 cm (24 inches) in width and 90 cm (36 inches) in length.
  • Bundles or bags have a weight limit of 22 kgs (50 lbs). No stumps will be collected.
  • Please put all bags and bundles at the curb by 7:00 am on your yard waste collection days
Recycling

As of July 1, 2005, Georgina residents can now add more items to the blue box. For more information, please refer to the Blue Box Information section. Please make sure that you place your blue box out for collection by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Collection times may vary and change from time to time for various reasons. Larger 22-gallon blue boxes are now available at the local libraries, the Georgina Ice Palace and the Civic Centre for a cost of $7.00 each. Our regular 16-gallon boxes are still available for $5.00 each.
