Ken Hackenbrook has been married to his wife Lorraine for 48 years, together having raised four children. He is currently enjoying his second term as a Municipal Councillor. Prior to this, his vocation was in Lithography at Maclean-Hunter Ltd. for 41 years, and was also the Chair of the Health and Safety Committee for 550 employees. Ken was President of the Quarter Century Club for Maclean Hunter Ltd. Canada and the USA, and was instrumental in setting up a food bank project there. Ken has been a strong force in the community his entire life. In addition to having raised over $32,000.00 in the Bobby Orr Easter Seal Skate for handicapped children, he has lent his support to the Terry Fox Run for 27 years, having initiated the Skate-A-Thon as a spin off from this fundraiser, and was the Director and Head Coach of the Sutton Hockey School, which was a dream that he founded 35 years ago. For the past 12 years, Ken has organized the Ice Owl Charity hockey games (for visually impaired players), to raise funds for local charities and organizations. Ken is currently the municipal representative on various committees in the Town of Georgina - the Egypt Hall Board, Georgina Mobility Transit, Accessibility Advisory Committee, Red Barn Theatre, Sutton Secondary Plan and is also a member of the Canadian Federation of Intercultural Friendship and Police Liaison Committee for York Region. Ken also held the position of Chair on the Citizen=s Committee, which was responsible for many changes made to improve the safety of the roads and various intersections in our community. |
